A Small Narco Plane Crashed on the South Coast of Guatemala

Due to its geographical position, Guatemala is used as a bridge by international cartels that transport drugs from South America to the United States.

A new plane allegedly used by drug traffickers was found on Monday burned in a community on the southern coast of Guatemala, the Guatemalan Army reported.

The Army said that through the radars of the Guatemalan Air Force (FAG) detected between the night of Sunday and early Monday on Monday the trace of an illicit flight in the La Confianza farm, in the municipality of La Gomera, in the department southern of Escuintla.

After the discovery, helicopters of the Air Force made a flyby on Monday and located the aircraft, but when the Ground Forces arrived at the place the plane was already burned because a group of strangers placed mounds of earth to prevent the passage of the military units.

So far this year, according to the Ministry of Defense, at least nine aircraft allegedly used by drug traffickers have been located in various regions of Guatemala.

On June 23, the air force radars detected an illegal flight in the airspace of the Caribbean department of Izabal, where army soldiers were displaced.

When the military arrived at the Mallorca farm in the village of Chichipate, in the municipality of El Estor, there was an armed confrontation and the supposed narco-trafficker Jorge Flavio Monzón was killed .

During the operation, two vehicles were seized, among others.

So far in 2019, anti-narcotics agents have seized some 12 tons of cocaine in the Central American country , while between 2016 and 2018 some 45,000 kilos were seized.
